The European Areas Phase Shift Keying Award
Programme (EUAPA) was devised by the Scottish-Russian ARS in 2004, and
then developed by the European PSK Club. This was to promote an
interest in Amateur Radio in Europe and to sponsor a series of awards
and badges based on the administrative geography of European countries
by using PSK modes.
The EUAPA's aim is to improve and expand geographical knowledge of
Europe and to encourage amateurs to improve their PSK operating
techniques. Administrative geography concerns
itself with the hierarchy of areas relating to national governments in
Europe. This hierarchy is complicated for not only are there several
layers but the structure is different in each European Country. In
addition the boundaries of many of the layers in the hierarchy are
subject to periodic or occasional change. The European PSK Club decided
to create its own EU Area system, which will be stable and unchangeable
at all times. Most of the EU Areas created by the EPC are based on the
modern administrative system of European countries, but there are some
exceptions as well. The whole Europe was divided into 56 Area Groups
(countries). As one feature of "Administrative Subdivisions of European
Countries", EPC has defined a hierarchical set of subdivision codes,
called EU Areas. Be aware that these are not an official standard,
sanctioned by any international body. They are intended for EPC awards
and contests use. Each country has a unique two-letter code. Each
subdivision of a country has a two-number code that is unique within
its country. Therefore, by concatenating the codes, you can create a
unique code for each subdivision or islands listed. For example, AB12
represents Vlorë County (12) in Albania (AB). These are used along with
the full EU Area name in the list. Use this PDF file
as a standard EU Areas List for the EPC Award Programme and EPC
Contests. There are 1192 current entities in the list in total. Please
use English area name for two-way contacts, QSL cards and any EPC
correspondence. Care must be taken in the interpretation of EU Areas
from small-scale maps. The addresses of European stations given in
various callbooks can be misleading. Unless otherwise stated contacts
made to claim European Areas must have been made after the date from
which the area was valid. EUAPA-100, EUAPA-200,
EUAPA-300, EUAPA-400, EUAPA-500, EUAPA-600, EUAPA-700, EUAPA-800,
EUAPA-900 and EUAPA-1000 awards may be claimed by any licensed radio
amateur, club station or SWL eligible under these rules who can produce
evidence in a form of ADIF log of having contacted 100, 200, 300, 400,
500, 600, 700, 800, 900 and 1000 different European Areas respectively
on the list current at the time of application by using any type of the
Phase Shift Keying. All claims must be submitted in a standard form
acceptable to the award manager listed on our website. For the EPC
Badges Rules see our external website. The badges are metal with a
steel pin back, and 1 inch (25mm) diameter in size. EPC membership is required for EUAPA applicants. All contacts must be made with EPC members only since June 10, 2006. QSL-cards
are not required. Awards and badges are issued to the person or club.
The person or club can use any legal callsign. Contacts made from club
stations or special event stations count to the credit of both the club
and the operator. All stations must be operated in accordance with
their licensing conditions. Contacts may be made from any location in
the same DXCC country. Credit will be given for contacts made on any of
the amateur bands below 30 MHz. The submission
for credit of any altered or forged log exctractions or, equally, bad
behaviour on or off the air which is judged by the European PSK Club to
bring a particular programme into disrepute may result in
disqualification of the applicant from the EUAPA Award Programme. The
decision of the award manager on this and other matters of dispute will
be finals. All EUAPA awards are issued in high
quality PDF format, and sent via email to the applicants. The awards
could be printed then correctly, with the highest quality and with
optimal performance by applicants themselves. In an effort to make
EUAPA Award Programme more affordable to PSK enthusiasts, the European
PSK Club has provided EPC members the opportunity to get all awards
FREE of charge, and badges at a special 30% member discount price
[current prices on the EU Badges Website]. Application Procedure Since 1st June 2008 all claims for the EPC awards should be made using our UltimateEPC Award Management Software
written by DK5UR. The award applicant should re-submit his application
when claiming for higher classes of awards. The award manager will keep
all your records in our database. Please make sure before you submit
your ADIF log that you have checked it with the appropriate software. |
